If you try to recycle 50-60% of the grass blade, the recycling chamber will become overwhelmed, the airflow will choke, and you will end up with clumps. If your lawn has gotten away from you, mow it once at a high setting, wait two days, and then mow it again at your desired height.

Why do some mowers have “High Wheels” in the back?

High wheels (usually 10-12 inches) provide better leverage and stability on uneven terrain. In our testing of the PowerSmart 21″, the high wheels made it much easier to keep the mower level while navigating ruts or bumps. Keeping the mower level is critical for recycling because if the deck “scalps” or tilts, the vacuum seal is broken, and clippings will escape from the sides rather than being recirculated through the blade. High wheels are a “must-have” for anyone with a yard that isn’t perfectly flat.
