How often do I really need to use a mower lift?
For optimal performance, you should use it at least three times a season: once in the spring for a fresh blade sharpen, once mid-summer to scrape out dried grass “caking” (which restricts airflow and causes rust), and once in the fall before storage. Regular cleaning of the deck underside is the single most effective way to prevent the deck from “rotting out,” a common failure that sends otherwise perfectly good mowers to the scrap yard.
Is the power tool extension handle on the lift jack compatible with any drill?
Most are designed to work with a standard 1/2-inch or 3/8-inch chuck on a cordless drill. However, you should use a drill with at least 18V of power. Impact drivers are generally not recommended as the “hammering” action can wear down the screw-jack threads prematurely; a standard drill-driver on a low-speed, high-torque setting is the ideal tool for the job.
Can I tow the Agri-Fab or Craftsman carts with a zero-turn mower?
Yes, but with a caveat. Most zero-turn mowers have the power to tow these carts, but you must ensure your specific ZTR has a “hitch plate” installed. Also, be mindful that ZTRs can make very sharp turns; if you turn too sharply, the cart can “jackknife” and damage the hitch or the mower’s frame. Always check your mower’s manual for the maximum towing weight to avoid damaging the hydrostatic transmissions.
