A “Hybrid” mower like the RC Crawler uses a gas engine to turn the blades and an electric system (alternator + battery + motors) to move the tracks. This is better for slopes because electric motors provide “Instant Torque.” When a gas-powered hydrostatic mower starts to slip on a hill, the engine has to rev up to provide more hydraulic pressure. An electric motor responds in milliseconds, providing the precise amount of power needed to maintain traction without spinning the tracks and tearing up the turf. It’s a more responsive, safer system for extreme angles.
