With a 200-lb rider and a full tank of gas, you are at 1,150 lbs. Because ZTRs have a lot of weight over the rear wheels, they exert concentrated pressure. We strongly recommend a ramp with at least an 1,800-lb or 2,000-lb rating (like the Kryonix) for ZTRs to prevent the metal from bowing over time under that concentrated rear-axle weight.
Is the black coating on the VNN ramps just for looks?
While it does look better than raw aluminum, the black coating serves two functional purposes. First, it provides an extra layer of chemical resistance against spilled gasoline, oil, and battery acid, which can occasionally pit raw aluminum. Second, in cold climates, the black color absorbs thermal energy from the sun, helping to melt ice or frost off the ramp faster than a reflective silver surface would. However, be aware that over years of use, the coating will scratch where the tire treads (and potential metal studs or chains) make contact.
Can I use these ramps for a snow blower?
Absolutely. In fact, these are ideal for snow blowers. Because snow blowers have smaller wheels than mowers, the “punch plate” surface is much better than “rung-style” ramps. The raised edges provide the necessary traction for the rubber tires to climb the incline even in slushy conditions. The 1,500-lb capacity is more than enough for even the largest two-stage or three-stage snow blowers, which typically weigh between 250 and 400 lbs.
